Up in the mountains on a little lake about an hour from where we are staying , Francine's sister, Noella, and her husband, Alain, have a cabin. Francine made the plans and off we went to spend a quiet day and dark night.
I say quiet because we were about 30 km from the main road and dark because we were about 30 km from the main road--no electricity except the generator out in the garage building. The sky was absolutely full of stars, and inside you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.
Didn't bother us--we turned on the generator and proceeded to eat our dinner. The Quebequois call it Chinese fondue because they use hot broth instead of oil to cook the meat. We had a nice selection of fondue ingredients--moose, wild boar, ostrich, beef, shrimp, mushrooms, and cauliflower. Yummy indeed!!
This morning the lake was like glass and the reflections in the water were like looking in a mirror.
