Way Up North

I just couldn't resist taking this picture of Shayne and Sarah's address sign at the cabin. We went "way up north" for the Memorial Day Weekend and were greeted by spring--our little spot had pin cherry blossoms (the white ones in the pix), wild columbine, chives, and hummingbirds. I promptly planted some more flowers and got out the hummingbird feeder!















The "lake" is a busy place and, of course, the grandbabies are there. Addy loves to pose for the camera and Macy gives a gummy smile to Grampa, who can make her belly laugh by just looking at her.

















We are all about eating (however, we are trying to eat healthier), and here is a breakfast shot. We usually fit about 12-15 in the cabin for every meal. When the weather gets warmer, we head to Shayne and Sarah's and eat on the deck.

We celebrated Jim's birthday on Sunday with Mitch's barbequed ribs. Jim's request. There was plenty of good food that day too!

Bob and Jo came up and spent the night with us and we went morel mushroom hunting. Maybe it was a little to early this far north--no luck!

Monaco North Central Rally--St. Cloud

Here we are together again!! This lifestyle allows us to have friends everywhere--it is great!! There were 18 coaches parked at the St. Cloud RV Resort and we made the most of our time together--mostly eating, but also playing games and doing a couple crafts. 

We took a tour to St. Johns University and had a presentation on the St. Johns Bible, an original reproduction of the Bible in calligraphy and artwork taking 12 years to complete. I only wish I could have taken a picture of the pages we did have an opportunity to see. They are magnificent.

Tennessee revisited: Mitch 'doing karoke'!

Mitch belonged to a quartet back in Elk River long ago, and one of his claims to fame is this "rap".
We had some really good karoke most nights of the OnLine Campers Rally. One night Mitch even took the mike.

Bob and Jo

We've been friends for over 30 years and it's always fun to get together. Jo called at 4:00 pm and said she was going morel mushroom hunting, did we want to come in (a 45 minute trip) for dinner. So we packed up the ahi tuna Mitch had ready and the salad greens, a couple of ears of corn (basically what we were going to have for dinner) and headed to their house. Rush hour traffic across the Twin Cities gave us time to get real hungry. I forgot to take a picture of the morels, but they were tasty!

We made it to Minnesota!

We are parked at the Mystic Lake Casino RV park so accomadations are good. We are close to the kids and we had to rush over to check out the granddaughters. Macy is now five and a half months old and over 12 pounds. She is developing quite the little personality.









Addy is full of personality--she sings, talks incessantly, and bosses us around, and she is a good big sister.











We went "Up North" to the cabin to celebrate Addy's second birthday (and the opening of fishing season)! It's cold up here--but Addy's ready with her boots and umbrella and a gardening set.

Traveling North

We left the Tennessee Rally to travel south of Nashville to Natchez Trace Thousand Trails Preserve. Rain and gray all day. We got to the park and were told "Sorry, the tornado that went through two days ago has shut down the park!" Now, we are in the middle of nowhere so where to next. We ended up at David Crockett State Park and no, we did not have to take the coach through the covered bridge, but isn't it cute!





We did park among the very big trees, however, but it was a nice campground with big sites and no satellite! The rain made the green very green. It was beautiful.










The next day we did some sight-seeing. We had passed the road to Jack Daniel's Distillery many times and now we had our chance. It was a fun tour on a beautiful site with a cold water springs coming out from a cave and lots of flowers and trees. Inside the smells were most remembered (couldn't take pictures) but everything from the mash to the final product smelled good!











We made a long day of driving and spent an evening with Jan. My brother was out of town on business, but Jan was happy to let Mitch use their kitchen to cook up a wonderful lamb and couscous dinner.

The next morning we visited my dad. He is doing well health-wise and we had a good visit.


Then on to Garner to visit Mitch's Mom. She is always a lot of fun to visit.
