San Juan Islands, Washington

After the great "hot spot" yesterday, we decided to ferry over to the San Juan Islands, a short drive, but a 45 minute ferry ride, to find the hot springs on Orcas Island. The morning was so foggy that you could barely see your hand in front of your face and the trip out to the islands was a white one. Because of the fog everything was running late and we had to take another ferry to get to the Orcas. The weather was clearing and we were surprised to see the many islands that made up the San Juans. After a car ride around the entire island we found the hot springs--now owned and operated by a private enterprise who informed us there was no vacancy and they wouldn't let us use their pools. Bummer! Oh well, we found a nice little place to eat and had a wonderful shellfish boil.
